BiteStrip® is an exact, economical device for single use to diagnose bruxism. BiteStrip® detects the existence and the intensity of bruxism.
BiteStrip can be used by the patient at home. It has to be applied on the cheek over the Masseter muscle. Any bruxism interval will be counted internally and recorded by the BiteStrip. The result represents the area of the recorded intervals and is shown by a permanent electrochemical display.
What is Bruxism?
Bruxism occurs when a person clenches or grinds the teeth. The term clenching means someone tightly clamps the top and bottom teeth together, especially the posterior teeth. The stressful force of clenching causes pressure on the muscles, tissues, and other structures around the jaw. This can lead to joint disorders of the jaw, such as pain and soreness, headaches, earaches, damaged teeth, and other problems. These problems are often referred to as temperomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.
The BiteStrip is an affordable and easy-to-use appliance to check both the existence and the grade of bruxism.
